The 38th Cologne Summer Festival presents four outstanding productions spanning dance, music, pop culture and entertainment. Look forward to stories brimming with a passion for life, thrilling musical adventures and magnificent voices. Sometimes poetic and moving, sometimes exhilarating and bursting with energy, but always extraordinary. The festival builds on its long tradition of international stage productions and concert experiences. Curtain up on your summer of inspiration, entertainment and memorable encounters. 29 July to 8 August: VIVA LA VIDA – A TRIBUTE TO FRIDA KAHLO ------------------------------------------------------------ Step into the world of Frida Kahlo: this award-winning dance production transforms her life and art into an intense theatrical experience. Twelve dancers, five live musicians and singer Greta Marcolongo combine dance, music and striking imagery in a passionate tribute to a woman whose life was marked by strength, pain and a zest for life. 10 to 15 August: STOMP ---------------------- The world’s most famous cleaning crew returns to the Kölner Philharmonie. Using brooms, bins and other everyday objects, STOMP creates an exhilarating rhythmic adventure blending percussion, theatre, comedy and dance. Loud, playful and full of energy, this cult show has been delighting audiences around the world for decades. 17 August: LOUIS PHILIPPSON --------------------------- With “Masquerade”, pianist and pop star Louis Philippson invites you to a musical masked ball. Classical masterpieces, original compositions, pop and dance music come together, from Bach and Chopin to Michael Jackson and Queen. Look forward to a modern concert experience featuring dazzlingly virtuosic piano playing, a large ensemble and spectacular lighting. 19 to 21 August: HOWARD CARPENDALE – DIE KÖLN SHOW -------------------------------------------------- Howard Carpendale makes his debut at the Kölner Philharmonie with performances that are personal, exclusive and up close to the audience. His greatest hits, new songs and live band come together for three special concert evenings. With “Die Köln Show”, the entertainer brings a residency with a touch of Las Vegas to Cologne: emotional, stylish and full of memorable moments.
