With around 90 exhibitors and more than 45,000 visitors, the weekend at the Rheinauhafen marks a moment each year when the culture of indulgence comes to life for the public—set against the backdrop of the promenade that has shaped Cologne for decades. The variety of food and beverages on offer reflects gastronomic creativity and an openness to trying new dietary approaches and flavor combinations. From artisanal delicacies to contemporary interpretations of Rhineland cuisine and international specialties, a broad spectrum of culinary expression—one that has long been a part of the city—comes together here. The presence of renowned restaurants and dedicated producers points to a gastronomic network that shapes Cologne in a unique way. The festival creates an open space where eating and drinking are not merely consumer experiences, but rather social practices that foster a sense of community and broaden perspectives. It is precisely this combination of local roots and global inspiration that makes the event a place where Cologne’s balance between tradition and the future is exemplified.
