The KEC is one of Cologne’s cult-brands as well. The Haie are ready to attack the top during the season 2019/20. The Kölner Haie are one of the top teams in the German Hockey League (Deutsche Eishockey Liga “DEL”) and also one of Europe’s most known hockey brands. Hockey has a long tradition in Cologne. The track record of the Kölner Haie began when the club was founded 45 years ago. After it’s foundation in 1972 the KEC won the German championship eight times (last 2002) and played the playoff-final eight times as well (last 2014). 2004 the Kölner Haie won the national Cup-Competition. Internationally the Haie caused sensation by winning the Spengler-Cup in Switzerland (1999), the Tatra-Cup in Slovakia (2011) and the European-Cup medals (silver 1985 and 1996, bronze 1989).
