Accessibility statement

The Cologne Tourist Board is committed to ensure digital accessibility for people with disabilities. The legal basis is the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) in conjunction with EU Directive 2019/882 and - for public institutions - the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0).

Status of compatibility with the requirements

Currently, the websites https://www.cologne-tourism.com/, https://willkommen.koelntourismus.de/en/ and https://location.cologne-tourism.com/ are partially compliant with the requirements of BITV 2.0 and WCAG 2.2 - conformance level AA.

  • Some PDF files and documents are not yet accessible.

  • Some images do not have an alternative text that can be used by screen readers.

  • Colour contrasts are not yet fully optimised on individual subpages.

  • Depending on the contrast value of the image, the copyright information on the images may not be sufficiently recognisable.

  • The texts displayed on the website are not additionally presented in plain language.

  • Accessibility cannot be guaranteed for embedded elements such as YouTube videos or content from other sources.

We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of our websites.

Preparation of the declaration

This declaration was created on 28 June 2025. The assessment of accessibility is based on a self-assessment with the support of common testing tools (e.g. siteimprove, Eye-Able®).
