Between the river Rhine and old rows of trees, the Groov in the south of Cologne unfolds a landscape that has grown out of historical and natural layers. The peninsula was created by a silted-up arm of the Rhine and today forms an inland water ensemble that invites you to hike, cycle and pause for a moment. Paths lead along the Lower and Upper Groov, past riverside vegetation and open meadows that repeatedly draw the eye to the water.
Leisure activities and natural space
The Groov combines recreation close to nature with a variety of activities: pedal boats move leisurely across the double lake, while the mini-golf course acts as an analogous pleasure between shadow and light. For children, the extensive play areas offer plenty of space to move around. Those looking for peace and quiet will find it on the walking paths; those who prefer socializing will find it in the beer gardens and restaurants whose terraces face the water. Not far from the peninsula, the Zündorf combined swimming pool with slide, pool landscape and sauna extends the spectrum.Connections across the Rhine
The KroKoLino ferry, which commutes between the Groov and Köln-Weiß, plays a special role. It enables an immediate change of perspective, opens up cycle routes on both banks and at the same time reminds us of the historical significance of the Rhine crossings.Useful Information
