Cologne is a sports city and football naturally plays a special role in the cathedral city. However, from June 14 to July 14, 2024 the focus will not be on Viktoria, Fortuna or the Effzeh (official name 1. FC Köln), but on UEFA EURO 2024, when three-time European champion Germany will be the proud host of the European Championship. As one of 10 host cities, Cologne will use its perfect location in the heart of Europe, its special hosting qualities and its extensive experience as an organizer of major events to celebrate a carefree football festival with guests from all over the world and the people of Cologne. In the summer of 2024, the event will enable Cologne to present itself to a broad audience as an outstanding destination. In addition to hospitality, Cologne is particularly concerned about inclusion, sustainability and public participation.
