Freddy Schilling

Freddy Schilling is one of Cologne’s best-known burger spots. Carrying on the tradition of burger pioneer Freddy Schilling, the restaurant now serves homemade burgers at three locations throughout the city. You’ll find Freddy Schilling on Kyffhäuserstraße, at Eigelstein, and—as of early 2025—in Ehrenfeld as well.

The menu features freshly prepared burgers, fries, and house-made sauces. According to the restaurant, Freddy Schilling uses Neuland beef that’s freshly ground daily for the burger patties. The patties are made in-house, and the sauces are also prepared using the restaurant’s own recipes, which are based on Alfred Schilling’s original recipes.

In addition to classic burgers, vegetarian and vegan options are also available. The vegetarian patties consist of black beans, scamorza, and bell peppers, among other ingredients, while the vegan version features fava beans, jackfruit, beets, mushrooms, chickpeas, and onions in tempura batter. Gluten-free buns are also available, though the restaurant notes that there may be a residual risk due to traces of gluten.
