Durst

pub

A place for art, Kölsch beer and table football

On the Eigelstein, near Ebertplatz, hidden between old house facades, you will find the bar Durst. Since it opened in 1994, it has attracted musicians, artists and people interested in culture – an unassuming, charmingly aged gem of Cologne bar culture. The small, dark room is minimally furnished with a foosball table and bar tables. A large blackboard next to the bar is covered with witty aphorisms while bartender Jürgen Reinecke, an actor himself, tends the tap. In summer, the simple but quaint outdoor seating area is a tempting prospect.

Culture and encounters

“Durst” is more than just a bar: it offers space for encounters, conversations and cultural events. Whether literary readings, intimate concerts or football broadcasts – the events are as diverse as the audience. Especially for those who want to escape carnival music, “Durst” remains a quiet island during the “fifth season”. The nostalgic smell of beer and smoke, accompanied by blues from the loudspeakers, creates an atmosphere in which art, music and dialogue merge seamlessly.
