A piece of lived authenticity in Cologne
The Metronom Bar in Cologne is anything but a conventional place. At a time when many are focussing on modern furnishings and fancy drinks, this jazz pub remains a byword for authenticity and charm. For over 50 years, the Metronom has attracted a colourful crowd that feels at home in its iconic atmosphere. The yellowed walls tell stories that are brought to life by the humming of the record player and the conversations of the guests.A special feature of the Metronom Bar is its ability to bring people of different age groups together. Since moving from Zülpicher Platz to Weyerstrasse in 1981, the bar has remained true to its tradition of using turntables instead of digital streams. This builds a bridge to an era when music was still a handmade experience.
