On Norms and Deviance

What is actually normal? We often only notice when everyday life suddenly stops working: when your body needs different ways of doing things, when you have to relearn what once felt familiar, or when a familiar place suddenly feels entirely different.

This exhibition invites you to reconsider norms. They can provide orientation—but they also determine what is considered “normal,” “healthy,” “disabled,” “female,” or “male.” They are embedded in laws and habits, in spaces and objects—even in how we relate to time.

The artists show how such rules emerge, whom they include or exclude, and how they can be changed. Through their works, they open up unexpected alternatives and new perspectives on our everyday lives, our bodies, and our future.
