Impressions
The excursion destination in the Outer Green Belt is one of Cologne's top addresses for recreation and leisure activities. Six kilometres from the cathedral, a slightly curved canal connects the two water areas of the pond.
On the sides, chestnut avenues form a "green roof" in summer which provides shade. In autumn, the leaves of the trees offer a magical play of colours. But even in spring, when the crocuses bloom, the Deckstein pond shows its most beautiful side. You can start your tour in the north from the Bachemer Landstraße, in the south from the Berrenrather Straße or from the Geißbockheim (Clubhouse of the 1st FC Cologne).
From the excursion restaurant Haus am See you can enjoy the impressive panorama of the lake. Next door, sports enthusiasts can practice precise strokes on a miniature golf course.
The 20 hectare Decksteiner Weiher was built at the end of the 1920s as part of the redesign of the former Cologne fortress ring. There is hardly a better place in Cologne to relax and unwind.
