Spiritual sounds and romantic depth

On November 23, 2025 at 5:00 pm, the Lutherkantorei invites you to a unique musical experience in the Martin Luther Church, Cologne. The focus will be on the 42nd Psalm "Wie der Hirsch lechzet nach frischem Wasser", masterfully set to music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and in a lesser-known version by Louis Lewandowski. These works embody the pursuit of consolation, faith and hope. Merle Marie Bader, accompanied by the choir and orchestra of the Lutherkantorei Porz-Wahn-Heide under the direction of Michael Bader, will also perform Mendelssohn's poignant hymn "Hör mein Bitten", a fascinating performance of the search for divine protection and refuge. The evening promises a profound encounter with Cologne's musical culture and the spiritual diversity that defines the city.
