Fine Dining without Frills

Wooden tables, cushioned benches and wooden chairs, paneled walls with inset mirrors, simple clear interior - yet a glance at the large handwritten board quickly shows you: the Hase is definitely not a brewery. Here, the beginning is often made by Osietra or Siberian caviar, followed by finely crafted appetizers, main courses, desserts, and cheese. Since 1997, Hase has remained true to its style: pure, genuine, sophisticated.

Situated on St. Apernstraße between Ringe, Neumarkt, art galleries, and shopping pleasures, "Hase" has developed into an institution for all those who want to dine excellently in the middle of Cologne's city center, preferably with a recommendation from Gault&Millau.

Lunch Menu, Evening Menu, Champagne and Seafood Event

Every day, chef Jörg Spauke - part of the team since 1997 - is inspired by the fresh offerings of local markets and his selected suppliers to create what he can offer you: fish, meat, seasonal vegetables. Repeatedly, alongside caviar, various pasta dishes appear on the menu or the crème brûlée, whose recipe has remained unchanged for decades. If one had to sum up the concept in four words: Fine Dining without Frills.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, Hase hosts a Champagne and Seafood Event with Taittinger, exquisite wines, oysters, lobsters, and many other fresh specialties from the sea - from noon till closing time. We recommend making a reservation!

The "Hase" - An Institution in the Art Scene

In the Hase - as is well known - the Cologne art scene comes and goes, as well as many regular guests. That was already the case in 1997 when Waltraud Bellag still ran the establishment. In 2012, Babak Navaei and Sergio Clerici took over the restaurant - with the same concept, style, and quality with 64 indoor seats and an additional 50 summer seats directly on the street.

Of course, the well-known name Hase remained, although today no one knows why the restaurant actually bears this name. Perhaps it's simply an old love for the cuddly long-eared animal, whose figurative representatives still play a role here and there at the Hase, above the counter or at the window to the courtyard.

In the Heart of Cologne and Continuity at the Heart

Culinarily, chef Jörg Spauke ensures continuity and the entire team provides excellent service – as guests often emphasize. One more reason to try out Hase during your visit to Cologne. Whether it's Cologne’s art and culture or shopping on Schildergasse and Hohe Straße - Hase is extremely pleasantly central.
