Exhibition

When art becomes something you can smell

What happens when you not only see art, but also smell it? From June 19 to 21, the Michael Horbach Stiftung becomes an experimental space for visual and olfactory perception. 1000freund Gallery and Farina 1709 bring together contemporary artistic positions and fragrance culture, rethinking the exhibition format: artists collaborate with the historic fragrance house to develop individual scent interpretations of their works. The result is atmospheres that don’t just linger in the air, but unfold — between canvas, object, and nose.

Across around 700 square meters, you’ll encounter painting, graphic design, sculpture, tattoo art, 3D printed art, digital art, and live performances as a holistic experience. Farina 1709 translates its long-standing connection to art in Cologne into a contemporary practice — balancing craftsmanship, experimentation, and emotional resonance. Live paintings, music, and interdisciplinary specials accompany the weekend, opening up additional spaces for exchange and fresh perspectives.
