Afroclassical Project

The “Afroclassical Project” concert on November 28, 2026, at the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum is dedicated to a musical dialogue that combines classical forms with Afro-diasporic perspectives. Guitarist and artistic director Aitua Igeleke brings her stylistic versatility to the project: equally rooted in classical music, jazz, and Afrobeat, she expands the repertoire with her own compositions, which enrich the project with a personal touch. On stage, she embodies historical figures such as Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-George, and combines musical interpretation with biographical storytelling. This interweaving creates an approach to music history that brings individual narratives and collective memories into dialogue with one another.
