Serene Choral Experience in Autumn

Experience an unforgettable evening of musical resonance and emotional depth. On November 15th and 16th, the majestic sounds of Gabriel Fauré’s "Requiem" and Pēteris Vasks’ "Dona nobis pacem" transform the Cologne churches St. Engelbert and St. Marien into oases of reflection. Fauré’s composition, renowned for its peaceful gentleness, shifts the focus from traditional dramatic accents to a requiem interpretation full of hopeful solace. Vasks’ palpable peace appeal unfolds majestically, making the unspoken between the tones audible with his clear, intense musical language. The St. Franziskus Church Choir and the Church and Project Choir St. Engelbert, under the sensitive direction of Iveta Scheelhass and Agnes Lipka, will interpret this musical dualism impressively. Accompanied by Wolfgang Siegenbrink on the organ, soprano Johanne Siegenbrink on the 15th and Beate Jedeck on the 16th of November will take the listeners on a journey of inner retreat. These events offer not only an overwhelming listening experience but also an opportunity for silent contemplation and the pursuit of peace in an often turbulent world.
