The temporary art space Empire Zero One in Cologne-Ehrenfeld is opening its doors for two parallel solo exhibitions entitled ‘Fragile – Two Perspectives’. Here, international perspectives merge: a German and a Canadian artist deal with the theme of fragility in a moving way. Painting, photography, film and discourse open up a profound dialogue that inspires not only aesthetically but also intellectually.
Since 2003, Matthieu Brouillard has been creating a fascinating combination of documentary elements and scenic mythology in his atmospheric photo series, video installations and films. His works focus on male identities, which he artfully stages in precarious and sometimes absurd contexts – an exciting look at social role models and narrative depth.
