Performance, Dance, and Theater

From June 17 to 21, Cologne will once again host a festival that showcases the full breadth of the independent arts scene. The weekend will feature selected productions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that were developed as part of the showcase and curated by a jury. Complementing this, the program focus “Post-West” unfolds multifaceted perspectives on the relationship between East and West Germany and questions historical attributions as well as contemporary social dynamics. The host region of North Rhine-Westphalia contributes further artistic perspectives that connect local experiences with broader regional issues. This constellation creates a dense network of performances, reflection, and artistic research that deliberately moves between genres and allows the independent scene to be experienced as a laboratory of contemporary forms of thought and expression. The Cologne Festival Days thus offer a focused access to works that orient themselves not only aesthetically but also politically and socially toward the fault lines of our time and open up new perspectives.
