Kölner Akademie - Music by J. S. Bach

Classic

A festive conclusion in St. Gregorius

To crown the celebrations to mark the 254th anniversary of the church of St. Gregorius am Elend, the Cologne Academy invites you to a special Bach program. Under the direction of Michael Alexander Willens, a repertoire by Johann Sebastian Bach will unfold, including both vocal and instrumental works in lesser-known versions.

Particularly noteworthy is the performance of the Lutheran Mass in A major (BWV 234), which stands in the shadow of the more famous Mass in B minor, as well as the Orchestral Suite in A minor (BWV 1067a), which will be heard in the version for violin. The cantata "Ich habe genug" (BWV 82a) for flute and soprano offers the audience a sonorous variation of the often well-known work. This selection underlines Bach's compositional versatility and offers the audience the opportunity to discover new facets of his work.

The Kölner Akademie, known for its in-depth and innovative exploration of the musical epoch, will be accompanied by an outstanding vocal ensemble, promising a concert experience full of virtuosity and musical depth. This performance invites you to experience Bach's music in a new way and to enjoy the extraordinary acoustics of St. Gregorius.
