Original Egerländer Festival

On June 5 and 6, 2026, the Original Egerländer Festival returns to the Tanzbrunnen and brings together formations that have shaped brass music for decades, as well as ensembles of a younger generation. Alexander Wurz & Die Egerländer Musikanten - Das Original and Sašo Avsenik & his Oberkrainer form the musical center, complemented by groups such as Viera Blech, Southbrass, the Kleine Egerländer Besetzung, the Öblarner Bauernmusi, JF Jungfidel or the Lapaloma Boys. Friday evening opens with the Josef Menzl band, whose unmistakable style was already celebrated at the Tanzbrunnen in 2025. On Saturday, the performances condense into a continuous stage program that juxtaposes traditional titles and modern arrangements without losing sight of the roots of the respective ensembles. With the Höhnern, artists who have been shaping Cologne for many years will also be performing and making their own connection between Kölsch, carnival and brass music visible here. At the end of the event, FAM sets a late accent in the Theater am Tanzbrunnen, combining different musical styles within a family band. The modernized site - with new umbrellas, improved sightlines and state-of-the-art technology - will create conditions that open up additional spatial possibilities for the festival for the first time in 2026. Between the main stage, other performance areas and open spaces, a place will be created where visitors can follow the entire course of the weekend in a concentrated manner.
