In “REMIX ALMANYA – A Post-Migrant Hip-Hop History,” Murat Güngör and Hannes Loh combine a lecture, performance, and musical archive into a precise narrative about rap, migration, and empowerment. On Friday, September 18, 2026, the lecture-performance will take the audience through four decades of hip-hop and six decades of German migration history. Texts, songs, films, and videos intersect with personal experiences, cultural-political analysis, and social debates. The focus is on the forgotten years of old-school hip-hop, the influence of German reunification on the emergence of German rap, and issues of class, race, and gender. René El Khazraje, better known as MC Rene, will be joining as a guest: The Cologne-based rapper and author shares his own perspectives on the old-school era and discusses his new book, *Die ungestellte Antwort*. Güngör and Loh draw on their experience as authors, activists, and former rappers who have been involved with hip-hop since the 1980s.
