SEE THE SOUND

Every year, the See the Sound Festival in Cologne brings together artistic positions that explore the connection between music, sound and moving images. As an integral part of SoundTrack_Cologne, Europe's leading platform for music and sound in film, television, games and media, the festival presents exceptional cinematic works across genres and media. Whether experimental short films, impressive music videos or intensive documentaries - a selection will be shown that is both artistically and socially relevant and makes it possible to experience the potential of audiovisual forms of expression in a differentiated way. In a mixture of historical retrospection and contemporary reflection, the festival not only visualizes musical developments, but also critically and discursively questions cultural contexts. As part of See the Sound, the SEE THE SOUND AWARD has also been presented for the past eleven years, recognizing the best music documentary. Endowed with 2,500 euros, the prize not only offers recognition and appreciation of creative power, but also underlines the role of music documentaries as an important medium of social and cultural analysis.
