As part of the “Water and Fields” anniversary celebration, the Weiler Waterworks will open its facilities in northern Cologne. On Sunday, September 13, 2026, this large family festival will bring together the history of technology, drinking water protection, and sustainable agriculture and forestry. The event marks three anniversaries: National Heritage Day, the 100th anniversary of the Weiler Waterworks, and 40 years of cooperation between water management and agriculture to protect groundwater.
There’s something for everyone at this big family festival: guided tours focusing on architecture and water supply, demonstrations featuring draft horses and fawn rescuers, exciting experiments by the Cologne Water School, a corn maze, an exhibition of modern agricultural technology, beverage stands, and food stalls.
