Cologne visitors who love to go camping can choose from an array of idyllically located campgrounds. Here they can relax in a natural environment that is only a few kilometres from Cologne’s vibrant city centre. Cologne’s campgrounds combine both of these aspects to make your stay in the city an unforgettable experience.

Three campgrounds are located directly on the banks of the Rhine: Camping Berger, Campingplatz der Stadt Köln (Campground of the City of Cologne) and Reisemobilhafen Köln. Camping Berger is Cologne’s largest campground, covering 60,000 square metres. It is located in a landscape conservation area in the city’s beautiful Rodenkirchen neighbourhood, around 7 kilometres from downtown Cologne. The Campingplatz der Stadt Köln is located on the east bank of the Rhine, right next to the Poller Wiesen (Poll Meadows) and about 4.5 kilometres from the Old Town. By contrast, the Reisemobilhafen (Camper Van Harbour) stands out due to its proximity to the Flora botanical gardens and the Cologne Zoo. Another campground, Waldbad & Camping, is by no means inferior to the other three. It is located in the middle of a forest in the Dünnwald neighbourhood, right next to an outdoor swimming pool, a wildlife park, a minigolf course and a boules ground.

The campgrounds’ pleasant locations encourage people to engage in a wide variety of activities. One attractive option is to make a bicycle tour along the Rhine to downtown Cologne, have a good time there and return to the quiet outdoor surroundings in the evening. No matter whether guests are only passing through or staying for an extended period, families with children or senior citizens, everyone is welcome at Cologne’s campgrounds, where it’s possible to experience the city and also relax within a natural environment!
