Not far from the Deutz Bridge is the “Kölner Pegel,” which was installed in 1951. The meter mechanically measures the water level of the Rhine at the river’s 688 kilometer mark. The meter display shows the current water level. Detailed information about the water level of the Rhine is provided by the Cologne Flood Protection Center.
