Gut Leidenhausen in Cologne-Porz, once a water-protected manor, later a farm and today the seat of several nature conservation associations and the Environmental Education Center of Cologne, is located in the Wahner Heide, the most species-rich nature reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has many walking and cycling trails that lead to the red deer and wild boar enclosure. It also has a large natural playground that attracts especially families. On the grounds, you can also find a "bird of prey shelter" with birds of prey and owls. This shelter offers guided tours on Sundays, public holidays and other dates upon request.
The program offers leisure activities for everyone with over 80 events. On the orchard, the "fruit museum", with numerous different types of fruit, you can also find the bee colonies of the beekeeper from Porz. Guided tours of the fruit field, bee field and bee hotel are available on request. Guided tours are also possible through the permanent exhibitions’ portal. The information center offers flyers, hiking maps, books and products from the Wahner Heide. You can also find information about the Wahner Heide App.
The Gut Leidenhausen Café, offers coffee, cake, light meals and cold drinks at the Lindenhof.
Every 1st of May, Gut Leidenhausen invites you to the “Wahner Heide Day”, and during the first weekend of December, the “Waldweihnacht” takes place, a Christmas market that sets itself apart from popular markets.
