Cologne's youngest Romanesque church, St. Kunibert, dominates the Rhine panorama in the north of the cathedral city. It was completed in 1247, one year before the foundation stone was laid for Cologne Cathedral. The comparatively rich furnishings from the Middle Ages have been preserved. Altars at the nave pillars refer to the former collegiate church character. Outstanding are the 15th century Annunciation group, which is both monumental and delicate, as well as the extensively preserved wall paintings in the choir, the original floor covering around the high altar and the windows from the time of origin. The new treasure house with the church treasure in the west transept is a modern eye-catcher of a special kind.
