What defines the nighttime heartbeat of a city? It’s largely the city’s club culture. And that’s also true of Cologne. But what’s the situation like in detail? And how attractive are Cologne’s clubs for locals and clubbers? Every year, the Cologne Club Days highlight, promote and celebrate their urban culture venues on Friday and Saturday — with concerts, round-table talks, discussions, workshops and a long Club Night. The goal is to present diversity, reveal relevance and build on potential.
The Cologne Club Days are designed for everyone who is involved with Cologne’s clubs: clubbers, party people, club operators, interested visitors, event organizers, city institutions and cultural decision-makers. Thanks to this broad range of perspectives, the result is a colourful programme of daytime and evening activities. There’s still free admission to these event venues.
CCD Conference Day: Discourse and Perspectives of Club Culture
On Friday, August 22nd, the CCD Conference Day will become a focal point for current topics of the Cologne club scene and far beyond. Representatives from politics, culture, and practice come together to provide insights into the ongoing development of club culture. The day offers a deep overview of the cultural and economic challenges facing the scene through lectures and panel discussions.
A significant focus is on the contribution of the club scene to strengthening democracy and cultural urban development. It illustrates how club culture, via creativity and social responsibility, contributes to a vibrant and inclusive urban culture. The discussion on sustainability and inclusion underscores the necessity of an adaptable and future-oriented approach.
Community Day: Music, Workshops, and a Festival of Diversity
The following Saturday, August 23rd, transforms Bartholomäus-Schink-Straße and Ehrenfeldgürtel into a lively center of community and culture. The Community Day invites the neighborhood, club-goers, and all cultural enthusiasts to a grand open-air event. Here, live concerts, skill-sharing sessions, and workshops merge into an extensive program that offers space for exchange and community learning.
The "Pay what you can" principle for workshops allows access to knowledge and multiple experiences for everyone, while marketplace events remain open to everyone without entrance fees. This approach fosters diversity and inclusion, reflecting the creativity and social consciousness of Cologne’s club culture. The Cologne Club Days thus anchor themselves as a platform for dialogue, participation, and joint celebration, true to the spirit of Cologne.
KLUBKOMM represents its members regarding various issues, supports numerous activities, cooperates with many public services such as local authorities and national institutions, and attracts attention and support.
