Kolumba is the art museum of the archbishopric of Cologne. Founded in 1853 as the Diocesan Museum Cologne, it has been called "Kolumba" since 2004. Two thousand years of occidental culture can be experienced here - works from late antiquity to the present day.
Particularly noteworthy is the unique architecture. Kolumba was built on the ruins of the late Gothic church St. Kolumba and the chapel "Madonna in the Ruins", conceived and designed by the award-winning Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.
