Exhibition

Few places and times have influenced art history as much as Paris in 1874, where the first exhibition of the later world-famous Impressionists such as Degas, Morisot, Monet, Renoir and Sisley took place almost 150 years ago from 15 April to 15 May. How it came about that the painters organised themselves beyond the official Salon exhibition of the Paris Academy, and why their art was initially rejected and later celebrated worldwide, will be shown by the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum.

With its large exhibition "Paris 1874: Revolution in Art - From the Salon to Impressionism", the Cologne museum traces the exciting path of French painting and presents a fascinating panorama of artists, styles, genres and motifs.
